    RC4 Progress and Q's

Hey all, Abbey Road Andy here,

So far the process is going well, though I have one quick question about the binding. After a few coats of black stain, and before applying a first gloss coat, I am having difficulty removing the stain off the binding with the recommended dingobass steel wool. The videos seemed to suggest it would be easy, but attached is a picture of how it is going.

    Cheers,
    Andy

hey Andy, the binding is cracked so you won't get the stain out of those cracks. Better get used to the vintage look.
Did you oversand the binding to make it thinner hence crack ?

Strange, i made pretty deliberate efforts not to sand the binding at all, so I wonder what happened. Not to worry, I will work something out. plus these are the ways you end up with a great look that you weren't expecting!

hey Andy, some kits the binding cracks, not sure the reason why some do and some don't.
In hindsight (easy to say now) the cracks wouldn't be so obvious if you taped off the binding and didn't get any black stain on it.
How did you clean the binding ?

Hi ARA, do you consider removing the binding and change it for a new one?
