    Project Guitar

    Hi everyone,

I just remembered that I had a guitar body and neck amongst all my stuff, the neck is a Mighty Mite 22 Fret Strat-style neck I bought online as a replacement for the neck on my Mexican Fender Strat but ended up not using, it has been routed to accept a Floyd Rose Locking Nut.

The body is apparently an 80's Charvel Jackson and has a bridge humbucker rout and a single-coil rout in it, here's what I would like to do to turn the neck and body into a functional and playable guitar.

1, Completely strip all the finish off the body down to bare wood.

2, Plug any unwanted holes in the control cavity so I only have holes for a master volume pot, a tone pot and a pickup switch.

3, Re-rout the neck pickup routing to fit a humbucking pickup so that the guitar uses two humbuckers.

4, Possibly deepen the neck pocket so that the neck sits at the right depth for string height adjustment.

5, Fit a Floyd Rose Bridge to the body, might just involve drilling out the bridge
post holes to the correct size.

6, Re-finish the body in a solid colour, maybe Metallic Blue.

    7. Make new control cavity and trem spring cavity covers.

    8. Fit a Floyd Rose Locking Nut to the neck.

9, Fit some good quality sealed machine heads to the neck.

10, Fit two good pickups to the body, maybe a couple of zebra Entwistles.

    11, Fit neck to body.

12, Install two Ernie Ball Strap locks.

13, Put some good strings on the guitar and set up the guitar.

Here's a pic of the neck and the body:

Just had a thought, rather than go with a Gibson-style 3-Position Pickup Selector-Switch, why not do like PRS used to do and use a Rotary Switch, then I could wire the Pickups PRS-Style.

Here's a pic of the PRS Pickup Wiring Schematic I am considering using:

    I suppose I could.

I was just wondering, what would be the best way to remove all the existing finish on the body and get it down to bare wood?, I was thinking of using paint stripper, also, I don't happen to have access to a router where I live so what would be my best option to get the bridge pickup rout re-routed to fit a standard humbucking pickup?
