I actually (finally) made a small amount of progress on this today. In the interests of body weight (the ash body in particular is a beast) I've decided to create an arm rest and tummy cut for this build. Yeah I know, she'll be even closer to a glorified strat! :P I wanted something different for my second MK-2 build, and I've never done these modifications before. Anyway, I got the rasp and half-round bastard file out today in a spare 1/2hr and went at it. I'll post some pictures soon. I'm still in the process of rubbing out the last of the rasp gouges with the file. If all goes well, it will be then on to the 80 grit paper. I'm pretty happy with how it's looking so far. Fingers crossed!

hi guys,

The kit building has slowed down of late as I'm in training for my next karate grading. The upshot is that there has been little to no progress on my two builds. However, yesterday I received a custom scratchplate from Pabs for my ash mosrite, so I just had to spend an hour looking it over a re-routing the control cavity to fit. You see, the plan is to swap out the stock pickups for some P90s - to be specific a pair of Entwistle X90s, and Pabs has created the perfect scratchplate for it! It fits perfectly, looks awesome and the P90s seem to be positioned perfectly with respect to the neck and bridge. I havent done a mock build with them installed as yet, but by eye it looks perfect to me.

I'm planning a poor-mans tobacco burst, with walnut timbermate to pop the ash grain and finished off with the white scratchplate. I hope it's going to look as good as it does in my head .

Any particular reason you've re-routed the body to have that bridge pickup at an angle?

I really need to make a start on my MKA-2 - I haven't really had the time or space to make a start yet...

No particular reason, mainly aesthetics. I wanted to match the position of the original bridge pickup and all the "modern" mossies seem to position the pups this way. Reckon it looks cool .

Thanks man, yeah I hope she's gonna look sweet with some timbermate in the grain! Might be a case of less is more with this one.
