Hi all,

I'm looking at starting my first build
Currently my plan is to an ST-1 with a black body and gold hardware.
probably looking at a black pickguard so the hardware stands out
still not sure what color to do the neck

welcome Mad Dog, there's a few forum builders in your area !
You build plans sound good. I've built a heap of ST kits so if you have any queries start a build diary and post your questions there.
You can order with a maple or rosewood fingerboard so I'd use google image to get some ideas what will suit the black and gold hardware.
There is a gold ST hardware upgrades at a very reasonable price (around $70) but comes with a white pickguard so you can order a SSS black pickguard on the site for about $10

Hi Mad Dog, welcome to the forum!
Also a Melbournite here, seems to be a few of us joining now! Sounds good with the plans, as Wokka said it can be helpful doing some hunting on Google, really check out what you would like! For the neck I always love a clear neck on a Strat, it just feels "right" to me, but of course you might not think the same.
