Have a look at this thread. It should assist greatly with what you need to consider and ultimately do. Plenty of info here.

Key point to make is that if you ever find yourself rushing the build. STOP! Take a breath and go do something else for 30 minutes, then return. You'll be glad you did.

Hey wokka, starting on the body, i borrowed my father in laws thicknesser after work tonight but i didn't get a chance to use it yet.
ill run the timber through tomorrow night, i have enough timber for 4 body blanks ill be stocked up for a few builds.
I ordered my truss rod and rosewood fret board from the states so be 2-3 weeks before i can start on the neck. so basically ill get the body blank done and rough out a shape from my template while im waiting for all my parts to arrive, then before i go any further with the body ill build my neck first, that way i should be able to get a perfect neck fit.
im sure ill need a heap more tools yet, but at this point i have the basics to start, ill buy more tools as i go.

I also got some goodies in the post from realparts.com.au, i got my Bridge which has stainless steel saddles, i love the block style saddles on these brides, i have the same on my 86 strat, but thats an original. also got my machine heads, i was limited in what i could get because i had to get left handed tuners because i am going with a reverse headstock.Click image for larger version.

also made some tools up at work, i made a fret leveler which is 40mm wide and 350 long, is made from milled ali so its dead flat.
also made a fret caul 12' radius and i got a piece of tube also to wrap sandpaper around for sanding curvesClick image for larger version.

I put the exact same bridge on my last build and it sounds great
