I'm shopping for pick-ups, wiring upgrades, and tuning machines at the moment. I'll spend the next week on the headstock, where I intend to do a bit of surgery (surprise).
I'm also trying to design a decal for the headstock, my initials perhaps.

The weeks of shellac are over.
I have begun sanding the finish, using mineral oil instead of water, I worked through 800-1500-2000 grit, then moved to a polishing compound and swirl remover.
In the first pic you can see the difference between 800 on the left and 1500 on the right. The final 2 pictures are of the finished product, with 2 coats of wax.
Now to repeat on the top, neck and sides.
