I like the back colour, and like Wokka I think you want to avoid going for a "warm" red back with a "cool" blue front. The colour at the moment is neither warm or cool, so I think it should work well.

Cheers fretty. It is growing on me I must admit. I tried to mix it a neutral colour that was pretty close to the pickup rings I made and it's not too bad.
Will do a light sand with 600 to clean it up a bit and re-stain a little and then it'll be time for clears.
sounds good Nicko, so the neck will be clear ? You staining the headstock ?

Love the blue Nick and that quilt looks fantastic. Back colour looks good and will come up with clear.

Back again with an update.
Mixed a slightly darker brown and cleaned up some patchiness on the top/back/sides.
Will let this dry over the next few days then go to the shop, clean up the binding and clear coat!

EDIT: @ Wokks probably won't be staining the headstock. Want to keep it more natural colours everywhere besides the blue to make it a bit more grounded and not gaudy

Like that denim look Nicko. Should be amazing with clear. Does this mean you will be playing the blues even if it's rock...
