Excellent work Alan this has come up nicely. Same kit I built a few months back has slightly higher action like yours but in fact feels great to play (maybe due to scale length on this style of axe?)
Enjoy playing with it!
Current Projects
#Planning 5 String Bass
good result Alan and the main thing is how much you have learnt with this build. Next one should be easier
Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck
Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in
Thanks Guys,
I couldn't have done it without all your help
And thanks Stan I appreciate the offer
And good to know Andrew - I agree - it's got such a long neck the extra action height sort of works
And especially thanks Wokkaboy - you are an absolute champion!
Cheers and thanks to all again - I love my guitar!
Alan
Just looking over your thread and it seems you learned a ton in building your guitar and it looks awesome! Im also in the process of learning about/building my own, got inspired reading about yours!
Jeff
Great job Alan! I'm glad the guitar turned out in the end. Your first set neck can always be a tricky undertaking - I've got two guitars here with an action that's a little higher then I'd like, but still love playing them. It's all part of the learning experience!
cheers,
Gav.

Thanks Jeff - I really learned alot - its an incredibly rewarding process.
I looked for any posts but couldn't find any - I would like to follow your progress and help if I can
I am probably only good for encouragement at the moment but I might be able to add something worthwhile somewhere along the line - good luck!
And thanks so much Gav - it was your intonation tutorial that got me thru sorting out the most important part of the guitar building process - actually making it play properly!
You stepped out the process clearly and carefully so it was easy to understand and you give handy little prompts and warnings which are invaluable.
Can't thank you enough
I am already thinking of building another one - might need some time to recover from this one first though - ha!
Cheers,
Alan
Hey Alan, unfortunately that's the other Gav. I m happy to bask just off to the side in the afterglow.
cheers,
Gav.

Ha! Sorry Gav - thank goodness you guys have got a great sense of humour!
Anyway I wouldn't have got to the other Gav's tutorial without the encouragement from you so all thanks and compliments still stand!
Cheers,
Alan
Hi Guys,
Just wanted to thank everybody for their help again.
I had a ball building my SG guitar and I am wrapped with the result
I have posted a couple of pics just to show the finished product.
I stuck a diamente thingy in one of the eyes, attached the strap and put the cover on the truss rod hole in the headstock
I lowered the action a bit and then re-strung and tuned it - all good practice.
I think one of the tone pots isn't working but not too fussed - might look at it when I can stop myself from pretending I am Angus Young ha!!
I am just perusing the forum for possible ideas for another guitar build
Thanks again - you don't meet genuinely nice people very often so it has been a real privillege working with all you guys.
Thanks for the new bone nut Dingobass (it's beautiful) - I want to put it on for the experience so I will get to that as soon as I can.
Cheers,
Alan
