Thanks everyone. Next step is to work out if I'll use the stock pickguard or make another one.

Looking good. I think a black guard would suit nicely.

maybe Grant please post some pics with the supplied white pickguard. I think Pabs has a good suggestion that a black pickguard may suit better

    My vote is on blackguard.

It's looking really great man. Love the colours - it's nice to see something untraditional sometimes

I was thinking that because the white on the body is a bit off-white now with the naughty oil on top, that a parchment coloured 'guard would suit better, but you've thrown me off with the black suggestions, didn't even think of it.
So I found a black cardboard box to cut up for comparison.

Not too sure at the moment, still leaning towards parchment, cream would be too yellow, mint green might not go with the green used. Hmmmm.

I reckon you're right that neither white or black truly fits the bill.

You should go for something that stands out more, like a brown or red (lol), or try and cut the size of the pickguard way down.

Can't do a lot about the size of the 'guard, still needs to cover the cavities. Pondering to do.

I'm a pretty slow worker but I've got something in the works with pablopepper to let me have direct mount pickups that look clean. I'm 95% sure it will work.

You could consider direct mounting the pups, which could let you shrink the size of the pickguard.

I reckon a two layer pickguard is the go, black outer showing about 1-2cm and then white over the top... but you'd need thin (1mm) sheets for that to work.
    Scott.
