And the winner is...
Many thanks to our Judging panel, including special guest Judge, Shoota.
In submission order:
1. Fretworn’s JBA-4 in Dingotone Nullarbor Ochre
http://www.buildyourownguitar.com.au...1&d=1426406843
You have brought out the detail in that ash grain extremely well. Great that you stuck to the natural ‘wood’ . Must be a pleasure to play. Headstock is great too. Great choice of finish, looks fantastic, yet very playable.
The grain really pops and the colour makes it a classy looking bass. Clean, Classy and Functional Lovely grain, nice choice of finish - good use of stock components. Excellent colour choice, really suits that bass. This is a simple yet sophisticated instrument, you gotta be happy Fretty.
2. JayBoy’s ESP-1 in White
http://www.buildyourownguitar.com.au...5&d=1426771092
Really like what you did with the individualisation of this axe from the angled horns and personal headstock.
Black and White contrast looks awesome too. I might have considered silver/chrome pickup rings as an upgrade to define the pickups a
little more and split the ‘blackness’ at the neck.Nice work great for a first build, white body and black hardware looks nice contrast. Great first build. Glad it wasn't in last months.
Love the colour scheme and upgrades. Not my style but the finish looks awesome. Love the dark neck.
Nice use of the ESP shape and personalising it with the bevelled edges. Never underestimate the power of black and white, always looks so striking. Really nice build for a first timer, JayBoy.
3. Gavin Turner’s STA-1 in Blue
http://www.buildyourownguitar.com.au...0&d=1426830055
This is a head-turner Mr. Turner! Unbelievable blue, gold and white combination . I’m not usually fond of blues and green on Ash but
this one has changed my mind. Absolutely love it and knowing your attention to detail it must be a beaut to play!Wow this looks great it almost glows what a finish. A work of art. That blue is beautiful, as is the grain showing through. The gold, white and blue are a match made in heaven.
You've managed to develop a fantastic blue there Gav. Finish sublime as usual. One of the most beautiful guitars I’ve seen from a PBG kit. Can’t fault it and would love to own it.
4. Andrew Osborne’s ES-1G
http://www.buildyourownguitar.com.au...9&d=1427608326
The ES is almost an obligatory entry these days, the psych’s must be happy. It a really tastefully prepared flamed maple burst and the personalised headstock looks fantastic too. Great job on the wiring, so neat. I would pick this one up, it is classy without being flashy.
Beautiful grain and colour combination. Nice even burst.
Lovely burst. Overall effect amazing, love the finish and attention to detail. You’ve created an authentic vintage look… very impressive. This would sit right at home in any serious player’s collection.
Thanks to the four builders for entering this month; another very tough one to judge.
The Guitar of the Month for April 2015 is Gavin Turner's STA-1.
Congratulations Gav!
