No worries, Stan.
I like the idea of a bind off... Might talk to the Gavmiester and see if we cant get that party started![]()
DB makes everything look so damn easy....
I'd love to see some tuts on popular issues that we all have and also a bind off would be interesting to see....
Max your guitars are just insane!!! So very cool!!!
I'm waiting for a working boombox guitar with detachable speakers with the tuners being headphone jacks so 6 people can listen at once.![]()
Now doing the final stages - test fitting the modded hardware using a steel rod (rather than the glass tube) as a guide.
The foam pads in the PUP shells are to keep the tube in place. All that's left to do is fit it up the Hg tube tomorrow . . . or the next day . . .
You have waaaaaay too much fun with that workshop Max!
great progress Max, fit that tube!

Not sure if you've seen this Max but it might interest you. Fella found a 1958 Dan Electro Thermo on the Fleabay and does a few repairs on it.

Had a HUGE stuff up/oversight with the old mercury tube (aka Toricelli) I had lying around for years.
Whilst quite successfully un-splitting the column (removing air gaps) I made the horrible discovery that it was way short of actual mercury.
Yes, the old DH here made an a-s-s-u-m-p-t-i-o-n that the thing was A-OK before starting the project (shit a brick).
Nowdays, to legally obtain elemental Hg one needs a special class of poisons license, fume cabinet and so on and on.
Not to mention that adding more of this toxic liquid is a tricky & potentially hazardous task in any case.
So I had to revise my ideas and ordered in a giant alcohol (cheers) thermometer instead.
Amazingly, the tube fitted in perfectly without needing to do any mods!
Here is the final outcome . . . .
Absolutely brilliant Max, love it.
