Thanks for the suggestion @stan! Unfortunately I have already stained the neck and headstock amber. I am thinking strongly about sanding the headstock off again and staining it blue. I'm not sure I have the fortitude for such a change in direction, but I will try to steel myself!!

    cheers,
    Gav.

Not a pearloid fan, but Ads' offer may work here. Have you got the aged cream gear? Have looked in the past but was stumped by being able to get the guard, but not pup covers, back cover plate, etc all in the same shade. While it is a bit of a case of the cream, the bone, the white, the off white, the ivory or the beige, I think unless they are close, it will stand out like the proverbial dogs ...

For the headstock, how about cut out a piece of paper, stain that and see if you change your mind.

hey @brendan - yeah you are right about the cream. I've got a paired scratchplate/back cover coming. I've also got fender standard aged cream pickup covers coming. They may not work together at all. And the cream may not match the blue. Just gonna suck it and see. If the cream is no good, then i think white pearloid or just the plain white. The white does look very stark against the blue though. Hmmm. Will have a look when the time comes. I really like your suggestion about the headstock test - i'll definitely give that a go!

    cheers,
    Gav.

I've redone my green LP in so many ways I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever finish it. Painted, sanded repainted, looks awesome, damn paint blemish, sand , repaint just a patch, it doesnt seem to blend, sand refinish, oh gloss, damned bubbles, sand , repaint, ...you know?

Here's what the neck and headstock looks like at the monent. 5 coats of TO over vintage amber Colortone.

Also, here's a better view of the grain with the Timbermate fill. Hope the grain will come to life when the clear goes on.

I think the grain will come up well.
I also think with the vintage amber neck that the white looks fine but off white accessories would go better (for what my opinion is worth, haha) like you were thinking
