yeah great tip Barge. I use a similar method for drilling tuner holes on scratch necks. Drill a small pilot hole through all six holes and drill halfway through with a 9.5mm drill then coming from the underside eliminates tear out. Or you can clamp a scrap piece of wood to the bottom side

A lot of handy hints and tips probably get buried and lost in build diaries and the like, you could have a "handy tips" thread and then sub categories (bodies, necks, headstocks, tools, finishes, hardware, wiring, bla, bla, bla) for easy reference.
