Thanks guys. I have done more since I took those photos, so more to come. I am still in the sanding phase.
The plan is a natural finish on the body. For the neck I bought the "Acacia" finish, but I would like to get it to more of an "vintage amber" colour. Not sure if I will need to add something to the Acacia yellow (some drops of the new Brown or maybe the outback sunset?) or it just means more layers. I don't have any scrap maple to test on unfortunately.
