good stuff, well if you knock it and get a dull thud you know you have a dud so sounds like this is good potential.
I'm sure once the pineocaster is done you will be gluing this up and cutting a new body !
Generally the harder the timber is to cut the tighter the grain and sometimes less tonal qualities it has, so you will see when you start cutting and routing it
