No Wokks I'm afraid it wont, a lot of cutting back to do you have my young Padwi.
Marble effect looks spot on Andrew but you need to add a little more thinners to your clear and check your gun and pressure settings. also it looks very thick for 4 coats. your finish on a guitar should only be about .008" thick so you can keep as much good tone qualities from the wood as possible. It is possible to have a beautiful shinny axe and still get tone , but like any finish on a guitar it must be kept very thin.

Yeah I thought so. First time using the 2k, just used the recommended ratios, 2:1 paint to gardener with no thinners. Thankfully it's on the Tele test bed and not the ib7. This ended up getting 8 coats with the intention to go berserk cutting it back. Petrified of rubbing through the clear and wrecking the candy.

I hear you mate, it takes a bit of experience to feel your thickness levels. 20% of thinners at least should be mixed in your paint for spraying and pressure should be around 15 to 18 psi. The good news is yes you can cut it back. You have nailed the marble effect , it looks great.
Here is the Nebular after 4 coats of clear. One more thin coatand 3 weeks of leaving it to harden up then cut and polish.

Thanks Wokks, I cant wait for you to have a play for a second opinion when it's finished. The colour is a toned down Cherry red dye . I need to to tee up with DB actually to test DT colours with clear coat.

Wow man. That thing is beautiful. Reminds me a bit of the satch Ibanez. Yeah the marble turned out well. I might try to have a bit more black coming through next time but for the first go I couldn't be happier. Thanks for the tip with the thinners and the pressure. I was spraying at 30psi

    Wow is right . . .
This is gunna be a really worthwhile guitar when it's done.
The light reddish candy paint is reminiscent of a pomegranate's seeds which sorta gleam too.
Is the photo pretty close to the real colour?
