Hi Gav
How's the pollocking coming along? I'm really looking forward to the next video.
Cheers
Brian
@Brian - thanks man. I'm currently doing yet another "dress-rehearsal" with my kids to confirm the process and the look. After 3 tests I'm still not 100% sure I'll get the look I'm after, but at the end of the day I think I'll just have to suck it and see.
cheers,
Gav.

hi guys,
It's question time!! My son Eben and I spent a few days doing a final mockup of the pollock paint job. The idea was to refresh our memory of the technique we used to create our initial prototype, and to see how much colour we wanted with the RC-1 body size. What do you guys think?
We used only one pass of the colour set, and a bit less paint on this example. There is a lot more white showing through from the base coat than on our initial prototype. Here is a comparison of the two:
So which do you guys think looks better? Whenever I went back to the initial prototype sitting on its own, I kept thinking that there was just too much going on. Hence the test with less passes and less paint. But sitting them side by side I'm still not sure. Is less more in this case? Please let me know what you think.
cheers,
Gav.

More is more - I think I like the prototype more. I think the contrast of the pickguards mutes the effect a little - not in a bad way, but... Could you do a negative of the outline and lay it over the prototype with pickguard et al?

There's not much white space in Blue Poles Gavin. I would go with more paint, less white space. Any chance you can mix some colours so you're not just putting down primary colours?
Cheers,
Adam

@Brendan, @Adam - thanks for the feedback. I agree with both of you - needs to be more paint. Much more like the prototype.
@Adam - yeah I would like to go with more complex colours, but my colour theory is so bad that I always end up screwing it up. It feels safe to stay with primary colours, but it does make the design look like a kindergarten painting.
cheers,
Gav.
