Thread: Joshs 1st build TL-1R

  1. #1
Hello! I'm a guitar building noob from Brisbane. Here's my first attempt, a Pitbull TL-1R... With a rosewood fretboard!

Finished in dairy blonde with the ageing tint.
It turned out a sort of pale-yellowy-peanut buttery colour thanks to the ageing tint. Really happy with the final result and looking forward to it wearing down.

She's completely stock, except for the 3 ply white pickguard. Came supplied with black which looked really good too. It was a tough choice between the two.

My only concern with the kit was the 11th fret, which appears to be a smaller gauge of fretwire than the others. Kind of strange, but I don't mind.

I'm really happy with the quality of the kit, and the customer service from Pitbull Guitars has been incredible! A big thanks to Adam and the Pitbull crew for taking such good care of me. With that, plus this awesome forum community, you've made a customer for life out of me!

Anyways, enough talk, here's some pics!

EDIT: the pics look yellower than she does in real life.

Thanks very much for the kind responses!

The stock pickups sound pretty sweet to my ears. To be fair, I've never played a tele or anything with single coils before so I have nothing to compare it with sound wise through my rig.
Also, never having played anything but LPs, I'm finding the Fender scale takes a bit of getting used to. I kinda like it tho, the bigger neck makes for a comfy F barre chord with my hands-- (I always struggle with that one!)

As for a sound demo, I'll give it a couple of days before I set her up properly, then I might record a little clip for you guys.

    Thanks again!
