Holy cow I wasn't planning another kit purchase for another 2 months but after seeing your kit I got to have one of these. I'd just be putting clear coats on. Stunning grain and binding. It must be one piece of Ash Gav? Think they said Ash cap on description
    Current Builds and status
scratch end grain pine tele - first clear coat on !
    JBA-4 - assembled - final tweaks
Telemonster double scale tele - finish tobacco burst on body and sand neck

    Completed builds
scratch oak.rose gum Jazzmaster - assembled needs setup
    MK-2 Mosrite - assembled - play in
Ash tele with Baritone neck - neck pup wiring tweaks and play in

Gav, that kit is damn fine! I'd keep it a natural colour!

Wokka, this is a cap but the cap is about 20mm thick! This kit was the weekend special...

Drool. I was contemplating a spalted LP kit after seeing Tim's beautiful results. Now I'm torn between spalted and ash... :?

    cheers,
    Gav.

Gav, the Spalty is going to require a fair bit of filler but the results always look terrific. However, I just love the Ash kits. They work so well with a 'natural wood' colour finish.

Gav are you sure about the 20mm cap? To me it looked like 2 piece Ash body on the bottom, two piece basswood carved top and then a thin ash veneer. I hope you're right and I'm wrong.
    Cheers,

    Adam

I'll have another look...a third one, because I did look at it and then do a double-take in the thickness of what I perceived to be the cap. Maybe they messed up with mine and read 2mm as 20 mm"!

Is it a carved top? May be it 2mm at the edge and 20mm in the middle.
