Gotta thank all you guys again for your words of encouragement.

A wee bit more done now on the faux playfield:
Outline work finished, lamp inserts inserted & decals applied.
It's at the stage of the build now where all the really fun stuff has started happening.
It's also looking pretty close to what I pictured when I first sat down at the old drawing board, with a few revisions along the way.

    More soon . . .

Coming together finally, at least the playfield is 96% finished, just waiting on some special screws.
One day soon (I hope) I'll get around to the actual guitar part of this build :?

In the interim, the first pic below shows the underside of the PF with all the controlled lamp brackets and their LEDs installed. Still waiting on some diffuse warm white LEDs to do the general illumination under the plastics.
Also plastered on some copper shielding for the PUP area which I hope will suffice.

Second pic shows progress on the upper PF which I am pretty happy with. I'm extra pleased with the "smashed mirror" spinner at the upper left. Also you can clearly see the lower inserts spell B-L-I-N-D the top left group of 4 naturally spell "deaf" and the right "dumb".
The 4 drop targets will get slotted in in front of the "smashed" Union Jack at a later stage.

Next phase will be wiring up the lighting and audio circuitry with some help from my electronics wiz mate Anthony.

    More soonish . . .

This build is just so incredible to watch I am lost for words. Max, when this is done, I would love to come over with my video camera and shoot a demo of the guitar and get you to talk us through this build and what you do for a living. I'm sure I speak for everyone on here when I say I want to get a look inside your lair.
    Cheers,

    Adam

This is still insane, Max. And I'd forgotten about the guitar bit too. This stuff as a guitar is even more insane. Like Adam says, gotta see a vid of it.

The playing field is jaw-droppingly awesome Max. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for updates! And to think this thing will be a working axe in addition to all this awesomeness! Can't wait. Adam's behind the scenes doco is a must watch.

    cheers,
    Gav.

Thanks again everybody, I'm amazed at all the interest shown in this oddball project.
With Adam now offering to personally do a video of it I'm a bit over awed, not to say flattered

Yes Adam, I would be more than happy for you to do a video thing when the job's complete, only snag is I'm a less than ordinary guitar player & rather shy about it.

I'm hoping this effort will be completed by the end of March. (Then, armed with GAS, I can start building something a bit more conventional)

No worries Max, I'm an ordinary guitar player who is not shy about it. I'm looking forward to seeing your lair and getting to know some of your history. Give me a shout when its done. And whatever you do, don't rush it.
    Cheers,

    Adam

Odd ball? Naa you're not round enough Maximus.
I've been looking up programming for ya, looks simple enough just need the read write tools. and an example piece of code to pull apart.
