    hi guys,

wet-sanded the devil's oil down to 1500 grit today and got another thinned coat on over it. Tried thinning the oil with Shellite instead of Mineral Turps. Seemed to work a treat. Gav posted a hint a while back that Shellite can be used in your devil's oil to get rid of the greebles that build up over time (due to oxidation etc). This it does! Thinning with Shellite seems to serve both purposes at once - thinning and cleaning up..

Anyway, the wet-sanding is paying off and she's starting to look nice and shiny now.

    cheers,
    Gav.

    spectacular finish!

Looks fantastic Gav, love the Tru oil finish. I'm curious as to where you get it from? Had a quick look online and could only see products listed in the UK and another bunch of guitar forums struggling to find it too. Is there a supplier in Aus? After seeing a number of finishes like yours I'm seriously considering a Tru oil finish rather than Satin top coat. Looking forward to more pics the Florentine!

@ Gav, looks sensational mate, you have the high gloss finish down to a fine art now !
@ Tim, I will probably have to spend another week in the naughty corner but here's the link for Tru Oil, its actually made for gun stocks and it's available from magnumsports and local gun shops.

@Tim - I was buying it from Magnum Sports in NSW. I got some from them only a month or so ago:

    http://magnumsports.com.au/manufactu...facturerid=103

but they seemd to have disabled the link at the moment. you could call them and ask them what's what. it was $24 for an 8oz bottle.

it is also listed on the NSW rifle association website, although 12 months ago when i tried to buy it it was out of stock:

    http://www.nswra.org.au/products/Tru...oz-liquid.html

can also give them a call and see..

    cheers,
    Gav.

Love the way this guitar is coming out.

I wasn't convinced about this kit before, but after seeing how you have finished it, I really think this is a kit I need to have a shot at too.

Can't wait to see it complete and hear it too.

    Cheers

    Darren

@ Wokka, Brendan and Gav, Thanks for the info might have to check that out. Is it applied in the same way as Wudtone? Sorry for making you risk time in the naughty corner! But if you get a finish like Gavs I'm sure it'll be worth it?! I guess I'll probably be joining you all too shortly...
