Both of those guitars are beautiful. Well done and welcome.

Great job on both builds, Mick - enough to make any of us very envious (I'm especially likin' that sweet LP! I'll bet the chambering gives her a great tone! ) ... and definitely agree with you on "the fun of the banjo" (after all, there's a little bit of hillbilly/redneck in all of us - only some folks just haven't discovered it yet! )

Wait a minute ... that sounds like Rock and/or Roll!

SG-1 ... "Little Miss" finished in Flamenco Cherry Wudtone
TL-1A ... "Slugger" finished in Antique White Nitro
EX-1 ... "Metal God" finished in nickel-plate (work in progress)
ST-1A ... "Scrapper" stained and finished in linseed oil ... and with the "secret weapon"
GR-1SF ... "Rocker-billy" (just arrived, work in progress)

Cheers guys! I'm thinking of pulling the LP apart and refinishing it as it's a bit rough around the edges... might even bind the edges?

My ES kit is still on backorder but in the meantime I’ve been able to do a little more on another of my scratch builds… this one is up to painting stage.

It’s another bastard child… PRS styled body with really deep cutaways and a heck of a lot of fancy chamfers and stuff on the body, P90 pickups with telecaster style wiring + built in kill switch.

love your scratch build PRS Mick, are those 'spots' in the grain and if so what sort of wood/cap is it ? Nicely shaped and love the colours of the finish, can't wait to see this completed

Thanks Wokkaboy, I can’t wait to finish it either!

Those spots are all part of the timber, it’s an insanely highly figured Australian Lacewood cap on a Queensland maple body. The ‘spots’ pick up different light and change the look of the guitar depending on the angle you are holding it at.

cool awesome Mick, I thought the spots were part of the cap grain. Do you build your own necks as well or order them from a supplier ?

I buy the necks, I don't have the confidence/tools/patience to build my own... it's something I'd really like to learn but being such an huge part of the guitar it's not something I'd be happy with unless its anything but perfect so for the time being im more than happy to buy them haha

I'm back.... my account went the way of the dinosaurs after the site issues a month ago and I've been busy moving into my new house/setting up my 'lounge'

My ES kit shouldn't be to far away either so I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into it.
