IÂ’ve just signed up. HavenÂ’t purchased a kit yet. IÂ’ve been trying to get hold of someone at Pitbull but IÂ’m guessing my emails are going to spam or they are away. Once I hear back, IÂ’m looking to get an IB4. That will be my first guitar build. I do a lot of furniture and woodturning as well as working with micro controllers. So IÂ’m really keen to get the IB4 and get stuck into it. I donÂ’t play bass so this will be for my eldest.
Great that you got a response! PB is a one-person shop, and Tim is pretty responsive. Glad your kit is on the way. The nice thing about those IB style basses is that they tend to be comfortable and well balanced. Also lots of options for pickups if your kid wants to do that at some point. My daughter and I built her a guitar a few years ago. It's a very gratifying experience.
We usually recommend putting up a build diary. It's good if you need any advice. In your case it sounds like you already have pretty good carpentry skills so the rest of us may learn something from you ;-)
Thanks. I’ll try and keep a build diary. I find I often get so involved with a project that I forget to stop and take photos. Tim has been excellent. He sent me a photo of the body so I can start thinking about how I’ll finish it. I was planning to do a black with white ceruse finish with some gold and copper leaf images but now having seen the photo, I’m not so sure. I really like natural wood and the photo Tim sent is stunning but my daughter, who this is for, is in a bit of a goth phase.
Ha! My daughter also chose a color scheme that might not have been my first choice ;-) FWIW the black and white ceruse sounds like a pretty cool gothic theme...
