There will be a some bling added a little later, thinking of chrome scratch guard screws chrome bridge cover and chrome neck pup guard, to brighten it up a little. Working on a logo, have a couple of ideas, jet black is the theme and jet black is what it is.

ID:	44698 A ittle further ahead replaced the kit pickups for real tone Bass plus pickups with a little tweaking finally got them in. Fret filing will be next, then I will do some soldering. Get this baby up to tuning stage, plug her in and see how she sounds. I should of dusted her off a little better, but thats how it is.

If you wanted to complete the black theme you could go with DR Black beauty strings. For a contrast there's the Red devils. I used a combination on my black Epi with Black beauties for the E and G strings and Red Devils for the A and D to give a redback effect.

Hey Rabbit, will definately be changing the strings, the kit ones arent very good at all, seem quite dull especially the bottom E string. I couldnt help myself last night after getting the bone fret nut glues in and doing a little filing I ended up doing the soldering as well and pugged her in, even though there is still a bit neck work to do. Just wnted to see how those new pickups handled. The string idea sounds nice but spending money on 2 full sets of strings is a little over the top. Ive got chrome bridge and top string guards coming in today, so that should give it a little bling to light her up. May change out the tone and volume knobs to chrome. Playing with ideas.

The kit strings are dire. Useful only for checking action and neck alignment. They are dull, output between strings is very variable and you’ll find the string diameter varies along the length.

Pit Bull supply an additional pack of decent Ernie Balls for free with the 6-string guitar kits, (the standard kit strings on those are just as bad) but the extra cost of bass strings makes this unfeasible for bass. They’d have to put the kit price up, and it’s a competitive market. Plus, experienced bass players are normally fussy about their prefered string type and gauge.

IMO they’d be better off not including them at all, but they are part of the standard factory package, and it would cost money to have them removed just for Pit Bull.

Hi Simon, yes I did assume the strings would be sub standard, I could see the string locks are all over the place and varied thicknesses along the lengths, I opted to change them out with a spare set I had. But did use them for lining up the bridge to neck etc.

ID:	44699 A little bling, unfortunately the bridge cover has a scratch at the top, in the process of an exchange.

Anyone know where I may be able to find the bridge and upper string cover inserts and cap nuts ??? I know there are inserts at bunnings but they require a screw in from the top, Im chasing the types that are like a threaded post that sit out from the body so the covers sit over them and a threaded type cap holds them in position ??? I used to own an old Riviara Bass with the threaded posts.

ok ok ok, so the pots crap, no change in tone at both neck and bridge pickups and the volume is non existant just stays at the one position no matter if its turned right up or turned right down. Any suggestions before I spend more money ??? FFS

Hi Simon, any suggestions for the tone and volume pots replacement, these kit ones just arent working at all. No adjustment on any level for the volume and pickups ??? Im getting nice sound with those new pickups but next to nothing on the pots.
