    AddBoy First Build

I'm still waiting for my kit to arrive. I was thinking about upgrading the electronics to arrive pickups. Can you get a whole new system that does not require soldering? and recommendations?
    Thx

There are a few electronics like the GFS Quikplug and others that are available for solder less wiring in the US. It depends on the the sound and budget that you are looking for and also the location. People in USA have access to most of these at a great price but not in other parts of the world like me.

So, May we know what kit have you ordered, what electronics do u require and the budget please

I like classic Rock and old school sound. I would like to keep it under $400.00. The kit has to pock ups. Do you have a link for the GFS Quiclplug system? I have not heard of them.
    Thx

I have a set of GFS Lil' Punchers Tele pickups (Modern Vintage) that I really like. You can get them or the Lil' Killers Strat pickups, for about ~$100 US with a quick plug harness. Definitely a step up from the kit pickups and not pricy. There are others too that use the Kwickplug system.

If you meant that you'd like to upgrade the electronics to "active" pickups, I think that all the EMG sets are plug-and-play...so no soldering. They even have a connector to ground the bridge. I have a set of EMGs on a bass and they were super easy to install. For Strats and Jazzmasters they make pre-installed pickguards which is even easier since the wiring is essentially done. The prewired pickguards run from $250-300 US. About $30 less without the pickguard.

Soldering is intimidating but fun and rewarding to get it right! A lot of places sell solderless setups and "loaded" pick guards that are easier to install. With that said - a 400 or under budget can get you some great stuff. What kit did you get?

Actually there are presoldered/wired harness too that are available for popular guitar shapes which you can plonk in and just need to fix the screws and nuts

    Maybe something from here:

Most EMG pickups are active, if that's what you are looking for. I have a set of EMG Geezer Butler P+J's that are passive that are really great, so if the soap bars are as good, they should be great too. Most soap bars are active, but there are a few that are passive as well. Should be easily within your budget, and they are all plug and play.
