Thanks Stewartm, as I know nothing about painting, electronics, soldering or guitars it seemed an apt title. I am however enjoying the experience immensely.
Thanks Trevor for the soldering tips, I also went and had a look at a PBG video on wiring a TL1. It looks like the selector switch has changed sometime in the last 8 years, but I got the general idea. So today I took the bull by the horns and it turned out a lot better than expected. Some solders went well, others took a bit longer, but nothing got smashed or thrown at the wall The PU’s were wired in, the output jack (puretone) was wired up and then it was time for the tap test !! … and it worked perfectly. Very surprised. However as I was about to install the ‘switch panel’ luckily I noticed that an earth wire had come off. A quick resolder and hopefully all good. Seeing I was on a roll I also installed the pick guard and hammered in the bridge pins (and even remembering the earth wire).
Next is fitting the neck, straightforward, and then aligning the Bigsby, possibly not so straightforward.
