No way Boris. Unfortunately the general populace have no say in which lying incompetent idiots get put forward for leader. And it looks like the general party membership also don't get a chance to say this time. The leader will be chosen by the same self-deluded dickheads who thought Liz Truss was the right person.
It is a very broken system and we desperately need a general election.

Think you're a bit behind the announcement there Simon.
Any potential candidate has to get at least 100 backers (so no more than three candidates). MPs will vote and select down to two, the party grandees then hope the one with fewest backers will drop out.
If they don't then the party membership will vote.
It was the membership who gave us Truss over Sunak last time as well.
No, I was talking about the MPs! A couple of the previous 6 candidates looked like they may have been reasonable but they chose Sunak and Truss. Then the party members picked the worst of those.
