Hey all, I guessed I wouldn't be able to make it to the end of this build without coming to the forums for help, and I was right.
Went to test fit the electronics today, and I have no idea how it escaped my attention so far but
I guess the factory just forgot to route my output jack. I also guess I'm not getting this thing playing tonight.
Any advice other than just 'drill the hole'? Don't have any of the correct drill bits so the project that was almost done isn't looking so close any more.
What kit have you got? I know the Pit Bull offerings are very similar, but it helps to confirm exactly which one.
I'd certainly let Pit Bull know and complain - you should get some money back and they should be checking for this before the kits go out.
Otherwise it's easiest to drill your own hole for a jack in the side of the body. I've done it a couple of times myself.
I'd use a Forstner bit. You can get cheap bit sets from eBay and Amazon if you can't find any in your local hardware/DIY store.
Look at the photos of the kit on the PBG kit page and you should see where the jack is supposed to go.
The hole just needs to be a bit bigger than the size of the jack socket, so after unscrewing it from the oval 'football' jack plate you should be able to push it through the hole form the control cavity and then screw it into the jack plate on the outside of the body.

Thanks for the reply Simon, I was considering DMing you for advice but it seems there's no need
It's the GMS7Q multiscale, I know that it comes from a factory that pitbull have little to do with so I assume they're just passing on the boxes, but yes this should be checked it's still their product.
I chucked them an email earlier and I'll see what I hear back, because ironically I was considering purchasing a second kit because up until now I thought the finish issues were relatively minor for the price (body filler, veneer chipping, wrong veneer on the headstock, too wide a neck pocket etc.), but a whole missed routing is pretty bad lol.
I was actually considering getting a barrel jack to minimize how much I have to chunk out of the body, I'm not sure I have a 7/8" bit anywhere, but a barrel sized hole I could get done with just a regular straight bit.
Because of how my schedules been, we actually have the guitar fully finished and cleared, I was too focused on the neck pocket to notice the lack of a jack routing apparently, no idea how we missed it.
You could go barrel jack. The Switchcraft #151 mono ones have a threaded length of 36mm and a diameter of 11.7mm (according to Allparts), so you'd need a 12mm bit. Though you may want to use an extra locking washer on it to help keep it in place.
Make sure you drill a hole where the wood isn't too thick for you to get a nut on!
