    I am back!

Hi guys. I recently changed my ISP & e mail address & have been setting up my computers to get back online. Having said that I have also finished the ES 5V & it sounds just like I envisaged, smooth jazzy tones especially playing barre chords. I just recorded a 4 minute piece on my Pro Tools set up. I made a CD which is in wav format but as yet I have never learned how to upload to this site (or any other for that matter) I would like to share this with you so can anyone give me instructions on how to say upload the files say from Microsoft media player library?? I also sent a video on a USB to Adam a while ago but I think it would be too big to put up.It showed how I got the sunburst effect on the guitar.

Hey Doug, good news the build is finished and playing and sounding good.
Alot of forum members use soundcloud to upload sound files, pretty sure it's free to sign up, I'm not sure what formats it supports uploading but have a look on the website.
Video files I usually upload to Youtube, it's free to join and pretty straight forward to use.

Edit just checked soundcloud there is only a 30 day free trial

I've had a soundcloud account for more than a year and never paid a cent. I think the "30 day trial" thing is for premium features that you probably don't need? It's definitely nice and easy to use though.

Soundcloud is free if you are only going to want limited song capacity on your log in. If you are going to upload more than about three hours of music, that is when you have to upgrade to pay for it. The 30 day free trial thing is for their version of Spotify.

Hey there guys, I have finally returned to the forum after a year!! The Guitar is sounding really smooth to my ears even though I have not upgraded anything since my previous posts. I put up a video on you tube yesterday showing how I got my sunburst finish. For those interested in how it was done search for ES 5V Guitar build OR subscribe to my channel by searching for Doug Rorison
I did not do any further upgrades since I built it but it does sound better with age. I would like to build another one so I am going to sell it to fund my next purchase. The E335 I built in the first place was sold which offset the money needed top buy the ES 5V but I have so much fun building them I am suffering withdrawal symptoms!! I just thought I would checkin & after posting this will check out who has finished what. Its nice to be back.

Really grateful for this thread as I am considering an ES 5V myself. This will be my second build, the first - a non Pitbull acoustic resonator - went together well enough and has resulted in a very playable instument so I have high hopes for what are clearler better quality kits from Pitbull. Just wonderd if you ever sorted the intonation - from looking at the pictures it seemed you might have got away with simply rearranging the saddle positions, if that were possible. Thanks again for the inspiration

Dougr’s YouTube video was the inspiration for my build. I’ve never seen his thread before so that was a nice surprise to see it pop up today. Thank you Dougr.

Hi Borrel, I did sort out the intonation after buying a roller bridge online as I stupidly cut grooves in the original bridge supplied with the kit. I play this guitar in the shed plugged into a Peavey Practice Amp & it sounds really smooth to my ears. The addition of a roller bridge takes away the original look but Willy Nelson's 'Trigger' which has been patched up so many times, gave me the inspiration to think out of the square, and besides, guitars are made for pleasing sounds not looks. Hope you enjoyed your build & sorry for taking so long to reply as I have not been on the forum for over a year.

Beautiful build! You have a wonderful instrument to enjoy now. I will read through your thread -- I want to hear about everything including how much you like the sound of your guitar. Way to go, brother!
