Just finished my second build, an IB-7.
I intended to use the build diary progressively, but was slack with all the other stuff going on.
I originally intended to do a 3 layer burst with spray cans from light grey to black edge. But that was somewhat ambitious, not only due to lack of experience, but having an outdoor work area not sheltered from wind.
I must have tried 4 or 5 times to get it right, sanding back when it had gone too far. This was the reason this build took so long.
In the end I was getting anxious to play the thing, so I fell back to Matt black spray. Tru oiled the neck and head with half a dozen coats, then used a matt clear on the body and head stock (did this to the headstock to seal in the graphic I did, which came from the printer).
Everything else is stock.
I'll likely go back and do the headstock graphic with a better method than a clear shipping label in future, change the volume know (ones without screws always falling off), and see how the rest of it performs before changing electronics
