    As long as the handle turns the chuck and the chuck holds the bit firmly, you should be OK.

    I keep watching tool-tuning videos and keep wanting to buy cheap tools (that I'll probably never use) just to improve them and make them fairly decent in case I ever need to use them e.g. if I suddenly want to make a chest of drawers.

    Well the Craftright one was completely useless as it instantly lost grip on the drill bit.
    When it comes to hand drills from BGS you have little choice...this was the only alternative
    Albeit double the price.
    Not had to use this one that much but you immediately get a sense that it's been cheaply constructed.
    It does in fact grip the drill bit firmly though so in that regard it is worth pursuing with.
    The idea being that with American Ash the power drill does tend to burn quite easily and I'm planning on using a drill to rout out the cavity for the 2 switches.
