Super. All looking good now.
Ready to drill the string-through holes yet?
Super. All looking good now.
Ready to drill the string-through holes yet?
Thanks Simon.
All I need to do is get a small sheet of MDF so I can make myself another drill guide as per this vid.

Then it's waiting for those 2 damned switches to turn up in the post.
cheers, Mark.
I put tru-oil over the acrylic on a piece of maple.
No poblems with it. Adhered to the area with acrylic and coated evenly.
Then tried it on a headstock, again with no problems.
String through drilling. Forgot to photograph some action yet again.
Drill guide worked quite well. Both holes 52mm apart on the back. Same as the bridge spacing. Hooray!!
Now a product review. This hand drill from the BGS is absurdly branded 'Craftright'.
Is is the single most useless tool I have had the misfortune to buy.
It's grip of the bit is more slippery than a car dealer's handshake.
So despite not having a drill press, I'm quite happy with this outcome
Still waiting for those switches to show up.
cheers, Mark.
Did you do all those holes with the "egg beater"?
Making the world a better place; one guitar at a time...
Geez King, well done on the outcome.
I too get tempted by stuff like craftright, it's never really a great solution.

Thanks chaps.
McCreed I used the power drill for the small holes. I was intending to 'hand drill' the larger holes for the ferrules.
Didn't trust myself doing those with a power drill.
Yes S.M. It was less than half the price of the 'Stanley' alternative. A false economy in this case.
edit: If you look this up on the Bunnings site and check 'reviews' you'll see only 2 , both negative and one was mine.
Yes Simon, it's a day for drilling.
It was getting late when I was planning on a visit tomorrow for a longer drill bit to drill another earth hole but then a 'eureka' moment.
I can put the drill away for now.
Wish those damned switches would show up. 3 days past the ebay delivery window.
cheers, Mark.

So while Australia Post are dragging the chain....
Moved on to finalising the neck.
Decided to loosen the purse strings and lashed out on SCA Septone clear.
Sprayed a couple of coats and left it for a couple of days.
Despite 'quick drying' printed on the can, once again reality tells a different story.
Put the standard decal on and will layer a few more coats on.
cheers, Mark.
