Lots of very uninteresting sanding going on. That battered laminated board has so many little chips and dings to fill. Maybe I should have elected to do a relic?

Still have no good ideas on finish. Part of me wants to go bright yellow, another wants a retro metallic like sherwood green. I've even been tossing up painting some artwork on it, but haven't had any good ideas.....

I did decide to attempt a fix on one of the fret markers on the 12th. Bit of a mess unfortunately but I think it's tidier now.

    The retro metallic sound great.

Or maybe a nice sea foam green (did I just hear FW scream?)

    Scream? No. Barf? Quite likely.

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.

Ok so this is where I'm at with a printable plan for the Deluxester. It's setup to print at 100% scale on an A0 page. If you take it to Officeworks and specify that it's a plan that needs to be printed at exactly 100% it should be fine. I've been making my fretboards from a print out from there and it's bang on. The grid on the back is 20mm - so you can confirm it as it comes out.

I think all the major information is here. In this version I have the truss rod in 'upside down' so the adjustment is at the heel. This is because of the 2 way truss rods I'm buying are set quite deep and it's causing issues thicknessing the headstock properly. Ithink this will get around it. Most of my hardware has come from Real Parts if you are looking. I can give you specific links if you are having trouble.

Bear in mind that these are still at 'Prototype' stage. So I think everything is correct, but always worth checking and double checking everything.

I'd recommend getting a couple printed out, then you can cut them up to make neck/body/fretboard etc templates. It's dead cheap and that's how I've been doing my most recent build. I use some spray adhesive to stick it to the material.

You are more than welcome to modify the layout in terms of pickups and hardware etc. This is what I'm aiming for as V2, but the whole idea is to customise within the bounds of the body/neck shape and overall 'vibe' as people desire.

If you would like a PDF, please PM me your Email address so I can send it to you that way. It'd be great to get some other people to look and see if I've missed anything and any other general feedback.

First sealing coat of poly on the neck. Already want to build a better one based on some boo boos with this one and the previous. I think I've worked out what I'm doing wrong with the neck to headstock transition. Plus flipping the rod around for a heel adjust hopefully third times the charm. Anyway, will keep going with this build for now.

I was just reading a review of the Harmony Silhouette in Guitar magazine, and it does bear quite a resemblance to your design.

The new Harmony brand isn't directly related to the old Harmony brand, but they use some of the old designs as a rough basis for their new ones. In this instance, the old H19 Silhouette, which was much more of a Fender offset copy.

Yeah I can see that. It’s not a terribly original design really this one, but it is directly derived from the Deluxester. I ‘sheared’ the body and dragged the top horn out and the lower one in. It looks a bit like the Shur offsets to me. I like it, but it’s not really different enough to stand out.

There are any number of guitars influenced by the Fender offsets, but the general simplicity of the Harmony finish was more in the spirit of your design than many I've seen.

Plodding along. Still can't decide on colour. Spent a bit of time yesterday staring at the duplicolour rack, but nothing grabbed me.

I'm contemplating doing a super flashy glitter job on the front with the rest of the body in cream or white.....

Why limit to duplicolour range. Do you have a colour on a car you particularly like? Supercheap can mix colours into spray cans for like 11,000 different paint codes from vehicles. My Rick build is probably going to be a Mustang Colour that I like.
