Yes. It's normal. In the UK it's normally 3% duty, then 20% VAT on the kit + duty + shipping charge. And then our Post Office add on their handling fee (another €10).
You aren't paying any Australian Sales Tax, so the Aussies pay 10% more than the price you see.

I was surprised that this wasn't mentioned anywhere on the site, although I understand that it can vary dramatically depending on where you live. It adds up to the overall price of the kit and came as a bit of a surprise...
