Yeah man, massive Yngwie fan! and Brian May fan. Trying to incorporate both their guitar qualities into this build

I like the design there! Will you paint it and pick this out, or stain it?

Im gonna stain it, ive just stained the neck with a mixture of tea and coffee plus cinnamon and played around with soaking steel wool in vinegar. im gonna buff and polish it when its all done to get a shiny finish, but im not sure what to use for that. will probably do the same with the body

Are you leaving the headstock that shape?

If not it may be best to cut & shape it now if you plan to have a uniform stain colour all over.

On my 5th build (link in signature below) I did the chemical wash stain method you described above and it will need some top coat otherwise parts will gradually wipe off over time through natural wear & tear. If buffed straight up it will disappear before your eyes in no time at all. I used lots & lots of Tru Oil but any type of top coat should do equally as good a job to help you achieve a shiny finish.

    Cheers, Waz

I love that stressed timber look on the neck. Just some sanding to finish the headstock and it will look great!
