They just want to get in and get a claim staked and the money ring-fenced before Gibson invariably go bust. Another Gibson self-inflicted wound by initially forcing the system upon people who didn't want it (amongst other things) and greatly reducing sales. And it's not a reliable system. I know several people now who had it removed as it suddenly went and dumped their tuning mid-gig for no reason at all.
My first bass was an Epiphone Newport with the batwing headstock that was made by Gibson. Most of my favorite guitar sounds come from p-90s and PAFs. Who doesn't love some version of an LP, ES or SG. Breaks my heart to see the buzzard circling.

Make of this what you will. I highly doubt it's legitimacy.

Chapter 11 bankruptcy is not the same as going into receivership or liquidation. It is effectively a chance to wipe your debts and restructure the company. It is far from the company death sentence that we in Australia think of when we hear of company bankruptcies. It's probably been done to derail the legal action.
I don't mind the idea of Bonamassa being a shareholder, but Gibson needs shrewd and conservative management more than anything else. They need to make their core (and very expensive) products better quality and more deserving of the price tag, and they need to shy away from ill-advised forays into unnecessary product development.

Their current prices do not justify the poor quality served up these days.
Maybe they need to look at rationalising whole product range and strip out non core business. Get back to basics and improve the overall quality.
Not many folk around who can afford north of $2k when there is plenty on offer for less and better built.
