Oh man, seeing that fretboard rip apart like that is troubling. I wonder how the blackwood is going to fare in the long term.
Hopefully the damage you have is is reparable. It may not be an aesthetic option you want to consider, but I have noticed that some Rickenbackers have lacquered high gloss fretboards. (At least it looks like they do)
