    Are you sticking with dots on the sides? Those Shergolds have the stripes on the side as well, and they aren't that easy to see. Though you do have the benefit of the main fingerboard stripes being on the 'top' edge, so can be viewed, whereas on the Shergolds, the stripes are on the 'bottom' edge of the fingerboard so are generally hidden by the fretboard's curvature.

    No, as you point out these inlays serve both purposes give their location and size so I will dispense with the side dots.
