I think I may have messed up my build... 😢

I’m building an SG-1. I stained th3 body and the neck separately and then glued the neck in place... now the neck pickup won’t fit into its hole. Have I mucked up the build? Was the pickup supposed to have been fitted before I glued the neck in place?
