Fair call as you would expect almost perfection the higher the asking price.

So, clue us all in- what DO you like? Because at present the answer seems to be "not much ".

Just because we like different things doesn't mean that either of us are right or wrong. We just like different things. I prefer to see fairly simple guitars built and finished well rather than with what I'd call over-lavish finishes. That's one reason that I don't find PRS guitars attractive (the other is the necks on most of them).

I'm not going to comment on someone's choice of finish or colour for their kit build because that's their own choice and it's what they wanted to do and I have no reason to say otherwise. But in a 'beautiful guitar' thread, what's wrong occasionally stating that you don't like a guitar that much?

I can see where you are coming from Simon...

Often I find there is so much of that wonderfully done fine detail that the fact it is a guitar is lost, and then the next guitar I see is gorgeous in its simplicity, yet the opposite can also be true... That's not to say I don't appreciate the fine detail of any guitar, however sometimes I do feel the 'bling' on some is overdone, and if the guitar was being played on a stage somewhere I wonder if anyone in the audience would appreciate it. So for me some bling is good, other times the exact same bling on a different guitar in a different setting is pointless... I think it depends on where you are in the crowd, who is in the crowd, and why you are there... a Horses for courses sorta thing, some are rodeo, some are quarter, others are steeple, you have your Shetlands, and your draught, and there are so many others yet many just call all of them "Horses".... How anyone sees their or someone else's axe is entirely unique depending on their view of the subject....

G&L semi-hollow ASAT bass... I think a proprietor might take an active interest here...

I like that a lot. The G&L headstock design is a little bit awkward, but I can live with that and that one is something I'd happily buy if I was looking for a bass.

    One of my all-time favourites

An exquisite Kubicki ExFactor bass. I've never seen a sunburst finish on one before.

Very nice. I played one of the first ones a long time ago in the mid '80s. Belonged to a nice Saudi lad who's rich family had moved to the UK to avoid some political unpleasantness and he didn't lack for anything. I didn't know any other 17 year-olds with a brand new Mercedes 190E 2.3 Cosworth as their first car.

What was it like to play? I've always wondered if they were one of those things where the utility didn't live up to the concept. The only professionals I know of who played them were Stu Hamm and Michael Bloodgood.
