You mean the JZA-1? Only problem was it wasnt available when i ordered mine, the JM-1 was the closest to what i could get at the time.

Anyway i really wanted to do all this myself. For me its all about the journey and the learning curve and at the end i have the satisfaction of saying i did all the work myself even if i might of screwed it up...lol

While waiting for the new pickguard blank i decided to do a little work on the headstock. I sharpened the under curve so it would emulate the Jag a bit more.

Next a tape up and a few coats of primer filler.

Then the worse thing in the world happened, MY DREMMEL DIED!

After frantically reading the warantee and searching for the receipt i trotted off to the Big Green Shed, praying they would honor the warantee.
The young girl that served me said yes it was covered, i had one month to go on a 12 month warantee but it would have to be repaired, which i was dreading.
So i kindly pointed out the Australian exclusion on the warantee which said, " All australian customers are entitled to a refund or exchange in case of sudden product failure!"

She said....You cant argue with that and promptly gave me a new Dremel, Yay!

Moral of the story...... always read the fine print!

Neither the pot holes, screw holes or roller volume switch cutouts matched.

So out with the new dremel, attached the metal cutting disk, and with the help of a set of needle files, 2 of which i broke, i enlarged and elongated the slots, and all disaster was averted, whew.

Time to do the pickguard, it has arrived. Used one half for trial, so easy to botch up using wrong tools. When i got the hang of it i used some measurements from the supplied one then modified the rest. First pic shows how the original pick doesnt fit.

More routing, setting in lower switch panel, another sand and reprime, then final assembly to check neck, trem and string alignment. All is good. Ready for wiring and final 3 different paint coats.

I even remembered a tip from a fellow guitar builder.... use plastic hose to hold the bridge in place before fitting.
