Well I finally got some time to wet sand, cut and buff my bass build. Here is how it turned out. I used a different water based polyurethane on this one. Varathane brand and I think I like this one better than the General finishes, it seemed to dry harder and shine up faster, but it could just be better technique on my second build. It was was more spraying and sanding back on this ash body but it was worth it..

That is super shiny DD. Looks like it has been dipped in molten glass.

Well I made a custom white pearloid pickguard to match the guitar build #1. I have hipshot elephant ear open gear tuners with a drop tuner for the e string in chrome. I have a preamp system with treble mid with mid sweep and bass pots, 1 volume and blend pots. Chrome knobs, guitarfetish pickups, locking strap system and will be putting a set of tape wound strings. That is pretty much all I use on my basses anymore is the tape wounds, they are so comfortable and they are very mellow smooth tone and for the worship music I play they blend very well. I will be installing a switch to be able to split coils on the humbucker and run between series and parallel.
Oh my dear... I'm gonna show you some pics of the Red Widow but she's not as shiny as what I see hereNow I feel sad...
Haha, no it's ok! Love what you have done!
Nr 1: Red Widow LP-1MQ (Finished) ->Diary<-
Don't be sad Kick.. the widow is gonna be a GOTM winner I'm sure.. but with sprayed poly or lacquer it is easy to get this look. Just takes time and patience.
The finish looks awesome. you must be pretty stoked
Builds to date
#1, 3 string box guitar
#2, GR-1SF, November guitar of the month 2016
#3, Charvel Surfcaster tribute scratch build. ( Completed )
#4, Pawn shop Strat ( Completed )
#5, Current build MM-1Q
Well I still have the decal to be put on headstock and then apply finish on the neck and then final assembly and set up.. I did the mock build and drilled and countersunk the pickguard mounting holes, mounted tuners and pickups to see what it is gonna look like. Tomorrow I will do a shielding job and as soon as my decal makes it here I will finish the neck.
I am pretty happy with it so far, I hope it sounds as good as it looks..
