Nice work Jed. Great colour as well - I built an LP Jnr using same stain and liked the purple hue.

Finally received the bone nut and some dingowax so that I could finish the fretboard and proceed with the setup.
Here are images of the finished guitar.
Setup was fairly uneventful - the intonations are all well within the range of the standard kit bridge (with the supplied strings).
I think that the action could be a little lower, especially on the E string, so I may make some further adjustments, but it is playable as is, and it sounds OK (albeit through a pretty small amp - a Blackstar Core BEAM). I may have to investigate alternative strings to get a lower action as I don't believe that the standard strings are sitting well down into the notches in the bone nut - I set the nut height based on information I found on the Stewmac web site and the resultant string height is definitely not per the set height at the first fret. If it can't be solved with string options some rework of the nut may be required.

Not too bad a result for the first effort. Time to consider the next project![]()

Not a Bass dude myself but that is very nice Jed. Great deep colour to it and some nice grain action going on. Very well turned out. Congrats mate!

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.
Great looking bass, Jed. You can normally sort the nut slots out on a bass with a round needle file and some fine grit sandpapers.
Came up very nicely Jed. You'll soon be pumping out bass grooves then before you know it ... ta-da - you'll be a bass dude!
