Cheers Gav.
So on with the neck. Same technique as the body, tru oil sanded in for each sandpaper grade then rubbed off with a rag. Up to 320 grit. Will stop at 400 grit then a few 50/50 tru oil/white spirit coats to finish off. Then neck glueing yay!

Hi Ponch, I trust the tuners will hide plugs on the rear of the headstock?
Liking the natural nude finish.

So Waz, being the the type of person I am there is a very small piece of plug visible on one of the bottom tuners. I was going to let this go but now on a mission to get this build as good as I can get. I've agonised over the solution to this and have since located a nice piece of flame maple veneer from my stash that will cover the back of headstock & do the job. Just working on the template shape then a bit of thickness adjustment on the back of the headstock.
Here are some other guitars with back of headstock painted or veneered to give you the general idea of where I'm heading with this

That would be awesome if you would/could do that! I love that first image of the veneered headstock and neck.

It will certainly be an interesting contrast of veneers from front to back. Are you going to orient the flame grain across the headstock as in the reference image, or match the lengthwise grain orientation of the faceplate?
