Well, I got the chance to get another layer of black dye on today. I'm pretty happy with the amount of colour. I think I sanded too fine to get a really deep black, but I do like the fact that I can still see the grain quite clearly on what I have. It's quite a trans-black look, edging towards even dark walnut. Hmm. Here's what it looked like after the second round of dye dried.

I *may* chuck some Colortone dye into the next TO coat to darken the black a smidge, but I'm undecided. It's well past time I get started on the neck. I still have to cut the headstock shape, so hopefully I'll find more time this weekend to get that done.
