Laney have never been as popular as Marshall, but they have made and continue to make some very nice amps. I must admit I'd never fancied even trying one myself as the local music stores tended to only stock their cheap transistor amps. But I've more recently tried Laney Lionheart and Ironheart amps, and they are very nice indeed.

I didn't realise that HH had resurfaced. Never heard of their PA kit - which I find odd. They certainly had disappeared for a long while. My mate Ivan used to run an outfit that sub-contracted the construction of quite a few of the HH amps.

I dimly recall that the HH speakers were re-badged Fane units (though I could be wrong) and it's probable that they re-badged Celestions as well at times. But they were certainly at the low end of the scale and generally got a bad press and a quick upgrade was often recommended. I'll try and find out.

Most of the speaker cones in UK-built speakers were (and still are) provided by a company called Dr Kurt Müller, based in High Wycombe (about 20 miles from me) to the speaker company's requirements.

Looks like HH initially re-badged both Fane and Celestion speakers (the Celestion was a modified G12H). Then in the early/mid '70s they then started a sister company, HH Acoustics, to make their own speakers. The 12" PL-50 model was the one fitted to the IC100/100S and VS combo/cabs, and I've now seen references to the PL-50 being fitted to some Laney amps.

I have a Peavy Megabass Head. It's a Rack mount 2x200W Biamp capable Beast. I bought it New in the early Nineties and absolutely Love It. It also has a sweet onboard Chorus that only works on the "Top Speaker" so if you're biamped, it only choruses the highs and the bottom end stays clean and solid. In Full Range, you get a Chorused Speaker and a Dry Speaker.... almost stereo....
It also has "Power Sharing" so if one Power amp is not working hard, the other can draw more current as required and will run well above rated power output.

I think it will make this Quad Box Sing..... although I hope the Horn can match the sweetness of the Boogie Bullet in my current top box.......

It normally runs a Carvin/Boogie based 2x10 and an EV15. when you play the low B string, everyone in the Venue gets Dirt in their Hair...... so a Quad plus a 15 , well, the mind boggles.....

Absolutely, Wokka, can't wait. But will have to, until mid August when my Mate brings it down to Tassie for me.....

I'm also starved for Gigs at the moment, having just exited a marriage that required me to give it up, I'm back to square one.
I was invited to sit in for two songs (I was a bit rusty) last Friday Night unexpectedly and was like a Dog with 2 Tails afterwards..... matter of fact I'm still Grinning. 17 years is far too long between Gigs.....
Best part was, a couple of the Musos asked for my number.....
