Time to work on the fret board. Quarter sawn Olivewood with milk chocolate brown binding and maple purfling, plus Gold Evo Frets

All glued together


Should look the goods!


And now onto the neck. This is also sculpted at the headstock, and the extended fretboard will e elevated over the body.
The neck is made from Sugar Maple.

I suspect that is to insure that the moisture content for the chip is low? Either that or an ageing or colouring method?

Edit: should have held off just a wee bit longer.

New update today!
Mark has "split" the neck blank, and added a Cross grained laminate of Olive Wood, and black veneer as a border to the center

Headstock shaping time


Antique Gold Gotoh 510 Mini tuner machines


The idea is to use Katalox timber to make new knobs

The neck has been roughly shaped, and test fitted with the tuners fitted with the normal knobs




It's more noticeable in this shot of one of the luthiers friends holding the guitar, but notice the sculpting on the headstock face.


It's amazing how different the guitars colours look in different lighting.
