DK, that top looks like an inferno, so cool.
Might have happened 50 years ago Simon but not no more, a couple of beers or reds and I'm done.
It took a few years of portraying the rock & roll lifestyle complete with massive hangovers followed by a divorce to realise that a couple of drinks is good and many more is not better.
Next coat of intensifier will go on on Tuesday, I'll start the neck at that time so I'm doing final coats on both at the same time to help defuse the desire to rush the final stages
It is a very nice quilt. I agree that it probably is best left without any burst.
I wanted the burst rather badly but after two shots at it I wasn't convinced I'd get it right so here we are today.
I have enough CG stain and intensifier plus BS left to do some trial bursts on some pine so another body may be in order in the future.
Does anyone know if the DT stains dissolve the pvc tubing in an airbrush or alternatively will acrylic go over DT without problems
How thick is DT? My concern is that its viscosity might be too high to spray well unless you can find an easy way to thin it. My airbrush wouldn't spray nitro at all well from a suction jar - needed a gravity feed. I can't see it dissolving the tubing, through obviously it might take on a bit of stain colour. Again you'd need to know what solvent you can mix with it that will clean the piping afterwards.
I would guess that unless the DT is very dry, then oil/wax in the DT would stop any paint from adhering well or cause finish issues like puckering or orange peel. You can but try it on some scrap wood.
Being all natural products I thinks it's a safe bet that it wont eat tubing (I'm yet to find anything that does). Send DB a message and ask about what you can thin it with. What does it clean up with?
