Thanks Stan. Lost count of how many TO coats, more than 20 but less than 30 I reckon.

Trying to get this one perfect but always end up find a small ding here and a scratch there. Almost there and can't wait to hear how the Toneriders compare to Wilkinson's in the other Tele.

Yeah, in my mind I had this one finished about 3 weeks ago but it never pays to rush things, particularly curing time.....

    Looking very 'swampy'. Love it!

So somewhere around 25 coats of TO... *make note to myself to do the same...*

Hey Waz, that gloss looks amazing, do you sand your tung oil back between coats at all?

Hi DK, ragged on full strength Tru Oil for about 4-6 coats then reverted to 50/50 ratio of TO to mineral turps and applied with small square of 600 grit wet & dry for next 4 coats. Wet sanding whilst applying the diluted finish is what made it as smooth as ..... and after 4 coats moved up to 1200, then 1500, and finally 2000 grit. Allowed to cure for a couple of weeks and started traditional wet sand with water & 1500 grit, moved on to 2000, then all the micro mesh pads up to 12000. Saw a few low points and went back with a few more 2000 grit wet 50/50 coats and followed that up again with same wet sanding. Final polish was done with Brasso as Meguiares was not cutting it (pun intended). Amazing how Brasso takes out more of the fine scratches and irregularities but it does stink out your work space for several days.

Couple more touch up coats tonight and then final polish on the weekend if all goes to plan.

Looks and sounds like a lot of effort but it doesn't take long to apply this way, maybe 5-10 minutes to do both neck & body at the same time, and on all sides/faces too.
