Looking good so far but one remark; I think the angle of the string tension on the lower E might cause the string slip of of the tip of the tuner. Normally you would have an (approx.) angle of 90 degrees from string to tip of tuner but this lower E tuner has a higher angle to it...

They are locking tuners, so shouldn't need more than 1/2 turn to the post to get it up to tension, so hopefully that won't happen, but it's worth just testing with a real string before it's not too late. I get Kick's point that the low E tuner is at the greatest angle to the nut than the other tuners, so if it's going to happen, it will happen with that string. But it's also going to depend on teh shape of the tuner head, so if you are getting new tuners, don't cut the real headstock until you've tried them on the test bed.

Yep, I see what you mean. Once i start winding the string on, I will ensure the string will move towards outside, therefore it will hold itself in place. That's the theory anyway!

You never know, you might have struck lucky. Or you could have probably bought two sets for less than the price of a named brand and made up one good set. I'm not averse to taking a few risks like that myself.

One is seized completely, and there are a couple more that are extremely tight.
I've just done an Ebay search, and came across Jin Ho locking tuners. They look to be the middle ground between the cheapo's and the likes of Gotoh and Grover etc.
Anyone had experience with Jin Ho? They look to be South Korean made, and they also produce Wilkerson products.

Just need to see if they are available in 3+3 style.

Not me. They seem to do 3+3 in chrome. but not black (at least on eBay). But at least they are Korean, not Chinese, so won't be more of the same.

On the Jin Ho website they have listings for gold, chrome and black. I've sent off a question to the ebay shop that has the chrome ones advertised to see if they have the black ones available.
